Entrepreneur Society hosts 2nd Annual Start Up Meet Up!

We are proud to announce that the 2nd Annual Start Up Meet Up will be held on Friday, September 24th at the Texas Union on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin!  Last year was a great success with over 200 participants and we are planning to build on that.

Save the date and location! UT Alumni Center between 6-9pm.

The 9th Annual MBA+ Pitch Party challenges MBA students to “pitch” their best start up idea to mock “investors” who are prominent members of the greater Austin entrepreneurship community and McCombs faculty.  Investors are given venture funding (in true monopoly fashion) to back the best ideas that they hear over the course of the evening cocktail event.

(The idea can be real or fictional. You just have to sell it to the mock investors!)

DETAILS:

What: Pitchers win prizes by collecting the most “McCombs Money”.

Drinks and appetizers will be served.

Who: Pitchers – 1st year McCombs MBAs with entrepreneurial ideas

Investors – Alumni, VCs, angels, business leaders, faculty, and 2nd year MBA students

Object: Gain the most investor support in the form of “McCombs Money”

Pitch: A 60-second “elevator pitch” outlining your idea.  Be creative!  Have fun!

Where: UT Alumni Center, 2110 San Jacinto Blvd. (right across from the football stadium)

When: Thursday, September 23rd, 6-9 p.m.

Great speeches, great food, and a down-to-the-wire race for VP. In fact, the vote for VP was so close, we went back home to perform a thorough recount and we confirmed that there was a tie. Realizing we have no formal tie-breaking rules in place, we feel it is a fair decision to honor the tie. Plus, with all of the plans announced tonight there will be plenty of work for the future board!

We were expecting 100 registered participants and we had over 200 people register to participate!

    Highlights of the conference included our lunchtime keynote speaker, BazaarVoice CEO Brett Hurt, as well as the interactive discussions that took place during the law, market validation, marketing and funding panel sessions.
